About Perspectives..

Through this new series / space / iniciative called Perspectives, WASEmag will be openly requesting works on specific themes & ideas for photography creators all around the globe.

Perspectives was thought as a means to put together different views on common themes, or various interpretations that one subject might have.
It is meant to foster everyone’s creativity as we start to look through what (we wope) will be puzzles and panoramas created from a single starting point.
It also gives creators that are newer to the craft and don’t have a more elaborate portfolio to showcase their work in our magazine, while those who have been working harder for a longer time might have a chance to experiment with things that would be outside their subjects of choice.

Will that be published in print? We don’t know yet. Should you see here the seeds for a WASE photographic contest? That’s an interesting thought, thanks for mentioning that. Can it become a special issue or a book in the future? We do hope so but, frankly, it’s up to the work that you present to us.
In every open call for a Perspective there will be two texts. One will be poetic, exploratory, philosophic. The other one is the pragmatic, pedestrian definition of what we will be accepting.

The overall rules are the same as those for Submissions, which you can see _HERE_ [LINK], except for now we will publish a max of 3 images from each creator.
AS USUAL, MODELS ARE VERY WELCOME TO SUBMIT as long as they have the necessary permission from the legal owner of the images copyrights.

Without further ado, here’s our first Perspective — In(t)Here OutHere / Masked

POETIC PERSPECTIVE

In(t)Here OutHere

This is us. Humans. Out there in the World, in here within us — consciousness, perception, language, communication.
This is us. Humans. In there, undissociable with the Universe, out there in the spaces of our imaginations, creativities, possibilities.

Some are never conscious of how undissociable “we” are from what “it” is. We drill, kill, deforest (and so many other verbs of agression) while enshrined in this oddity that, somehow, “it” is there for “we/us” to use it.

But Humans have this peculiarity: we create while we destroy, we kill our own on purpose but we willingfully die in order to save our own.

Maybe because we must make sense of our senselessness we have Art.

COVID19 is ravaging Humanity in many senses. It is separating us from each other, from Human contact, from being able to hug, kiss, socialize. Without leaving us any options, it has imposed that we use masks.

What are your feelings, your views, your thoughts in images about those masks? About separation (with masks) or proximities (with masks)?

Dont’s say a word – just show it.

PRAGMATIC PERSPECTIVE

We are accepting any image where there’s a gas mask or a surgical/medical mask.

This is WASEmag, not Times mag, so there must be a nude somewhere. (Not necessarily inside the mask but don’t go photoshoping a random mask in your image, we’ll notice that and discard it according to proper W.H.O. safety procedures!)

Send no more than 5 images. We will pick a max of 3 from each creator.

We accept JPGs up preferably around 2500 pixels on the longest dimension. No specific WxH ration is required (that is, 4×5, 3×2, 16×9 … it’s all good).

Sorry: we are still not taking drawings or illustrations.

Must be a photograph.

This is more relaxed than our radically stringent criteria for Essay Submissions but we do reserve the right not to accept specific images.

NO GORY STUFF – nothing agains that but it’s not part of our editorial line.

You will get a mail from us (a) saying we got your submission and then, a bit later, if it’s been accepted or denied.

Because of the way Perspectives must flow for WASEmag to remain within ‘normal insanity parameters’ we won’t reply to specific questions about this Perspective (unless we outrageously missed out on some very important guideline, in which case we’ll add it to this page or to our FAQ.)

ALL OTHER CONDITIONS FOR SUBMISSIONS APPLY.

ACCEPTED SUBMISSIONS WILL BE POSTED first in, first out in out PERSPECTIVES section. You can find it in our main meny and there will also be a link on our front page.

Be creative and, most of all, stay safe!
